PTV Delicacies
January 19th, 2010

We're proud to announce the launch of
PTV Delicacies, a series of select “Digital Only” releases that are given special consideration by the Park the Van staff. These releases are from brand new Park the Van artists who we’ve chosen to put the label staff behind. Once a month, a new PTV Delicacy will be introduced to the music listening world.
The inaugural delicacy sees it’s official release today, January 19, 2010. Old Books is the debut EP from New Orleans (via Ruston, LA, home of Neutral Milk Hotel) band Giant Cloud, and is available everywhere music is sold digitally. In the spirit and intent of the new Delicacy series, Giant Cloud has been embraced by PTV family, as they are recording their debut LP in February at Dr. Dog’s studio in Philadelphia. The forthcoming album will be produced by Rick Flom of National and engineered by Bill Moriarty (the engineer of the first 3 Dr. Dog albums).
Old Books is available on all digital retailers. For a limtied time, buy it on Amie Street for just $1.00! amiestreet.com/music/giant-cloud/old-books-ep/

The Nifty 50!
January 13th, 2010
Generationals made the NY Times Nifty 50 list this year, #23 to be precise!
Check out the article below:
Generationals, a New Orleans-based duo, are steeped in the classic sounds of bygone eras. “Con Law,” their delectable debut, shimmers with the music of the British Invasion, Stax soul, Wall of Sound production, 1950s doo-wop and California-dreaming jangle filtered through a contemporary indie-rock lens. None of it, however, would be possible without a particularly memorable high-school biology class.

Phantom of the Opry!
January 12th, 2010
Big news: Josh Malerman's album
"Phantom of the Opry" is available starting today at this link:
http://joshmalerman.bandcamp.com/
It's an amazing site, a "modern release", whereas you can take it for free or pay whatever you want to. It's a fantastic album by the songwriter of one of America's most arresting bands, the High Strung. Here's a brief description:
"If there was a ghost haunting the Grand Ol' Opry, this album would not be his story, but they might be his songs. And for whom does he play them? For whatever creatures may occupy the seats! The Phantom of the Opry is a collection of his short stories, ranging from a shipwrecked man resorting to eating himself from the feet up, to one man's claim that, since his children bought him the plot beside his recently deceased wife, he may as well take up residency upon his "new land". When and where was it recorded? In a vaccuum... timeless... I snuck into the ol' theater and set up a couple microphones, fell asleep, and woke to find an album's worth on tape. Frightening stuff, no doubt, but how lucky for me! Turn thy lights low, sip thine whiskey, and let the small stories creep into your skin, your bones... and your heart." -Josh Malerman (author, producer of Phantom of the Opry)
